Mark Ward was born in Blackburn. He has published a number of books and pamphlets including two poetry collections: Thunder Alley, Aussteiger Publications, 2008, reissued, Penniless Press Publications 2014, and The Visitor’s Book, Penniless Press Publications, 2014. His blog about people and place My Backyard attracted a large international audience, and his work appears regularly in literary journals.

Artistic collaborations include, Five Rivers, with Rebecca Chesney 2008, Holy Detritus, with the Lakes Arts Collective, 2013, and From the Peninsular, with William Wood and Signal Film, 2016.

He holds a Masters from Lancaster University and has been the recipient of a number of writers’ awards.
